La Nouvelle Ronde
Welcome to La Nouvelle Ronde: A Haitian History Blog, a space is dedicated to exploring Haiti’s complex and multilayered history, spanning from the pre-colonial era to the second Aristide term in 2004. With a focus on uncovering diverse perspectives, we delve into the events, ideas, and individuals that shaped the nation’s past. Recognizing that history does not exist in isolation, we also aim to provide thoughtful commentary on current affairs and guide readers toward specialists for deeper insights.
Why this blog?
In the past three decades, academic attention to Haiti and its history has flourished across the globe, notably in the United States where the field of Haitian Studies has gained significant visibility. This is exciting news for those interested in serious investigations of Haiti’s past. Our main goal is to help disseminate the large body of scholarship dealing with Haiti and, at times, provide our own analysis of numerous topics. We hope to make this website an accessible resource for both junior and more advanced researchers, as well as for the general public, by providing various reference tools. More importantly, we wish to share our passion for Haiti with our readers.
